Journals are great way to record your thoughts, doodle, sketch or even create a masterpiece. They can also be great gifts. Make these easy, yet sophisticated journals with this DIY Tutorial:
Supplies needed:
Card-stock
Printer paper
Ruler, exacto knife, cutting mat
Thread & Needle
Thumb tack
Corner Rounder punch (optional)
Step-by-Step Journal Tutorial:
1. If you would like your journal to have lined paper, use this template to print on your printer paper.
2. Stack your lined paper and fold in half. I use 6-8 sheets of paper, giving my journal 12-16 pages.
3. Once folded, I like to trim the edges so that there is a nice crisp straight edge.
4. Repeat steps 2-3 for the card-stock - folding and trimming it down for your cover.
5. Now, open your journal to the center page and mark with a ruler where you would like your holes to be. I like to use a thumbtack to press firmly.
6. Use your needle and thread to bind your journal together, tying your knot as closely to the paper as possible.
7. If desired, use your corner punch to round off the corners of your journal to give a more finished look.
8. Decorate the cover as desired - use thread, stamps, washi-tape, watercolors, etc.
Journals are great gifts! They can be easily made and easily personalized for anyone and any occasion. Enjoy the process of making these!
