New Year, New Blog

Blog writing desk

With the brand new year, comes new goals and resolutions. I’ve dabbled in the blogosphere for a few years now. I’ve written a few posts here and there and posted them on our business website blog. However, it didn’t seem like the right platform. Posting about our family on a bathroom remodeling website? It just didn’t fit.

Consistency

I also wasn’t consistent with it. I would write a blog 2 weeks in a row and then skip the next 6 months. Well…this year, my friends, I’m going to actually keep up with it. At least that’s my goal. And with all goals, comes planning. I am going to make a steadfast effort at consistency this year. This is a big step for me. It’s a lot of work to set aside time in my weekly schedule to write. As a mother of 4 kids our busy schedule doesn’t allow much time for this. In addition to our busy life, writing does NOT come second nature to me. It probably takes me 2-3 times longer to write a post than the average blogger.

So, to keep up with the routine, I’ve put a plan in place. I’ve created a blog schedule for the year. I listed out each week in the year and took some time to write a blog idea for each week. That way, I know what I am going to write about in advance and I can add to each blog, little by little, months leading up to publishing the post.

Vulnerability

It’s not only a time commitment to write a blog, but it’s also a little nerve-racking putting myself out there and being vulnerable. I have a lot of appreciation for all those bloggers out there that bare their souls with the world. I will attempt to do the same, but it won’t be perfect. It may be a little messy at times, I may have spelling errors and other kinks to work out. What I do know is that it will be me, sharing my thoughts, my experiences, and being real. I found the following quote to ease my heart on this topic:

To share your weakness is to make yourself vulnerable; to make yourself vulnerable is to show your strength.
— Criss Jami

That quote reminds me of the verse in 2 Corinthians 12:9 where Jesus says, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” As I share my vulnerabilities/my weaknesses with you, and you with me, I hope that we would find personal strength in it and more importantly that we would glorify God through it-that His power would be made perfect. Please give me grace as I fumble through it :)

What will this blog be about?

With all that being said, this blog will be a little bit of this and a little bit of that…mostly family experiences, motherhood, sharing how Christ is working in my life, and if you know me, you know that I like doing crafts. So I will most definitely be posting DIY crafts.

Overall, this blog will be a place for me - to be open, raw, creative and unhindered. My hope is that this blog would be a source of encouragement for others, a place for others to be inspired and a spot to brighten your day. So, if you would like to join me here weekly, I would love that!

Thank you for letting me into your life today. Please feel free to connect with me by leaving comments or emailing me directly.

What would you like me to post about? Any craft ideas you want me to try? Any areas in my life you would like to know more about?

Come again, stay longer!
